Getting a home charger installed

Understand how you can arrange for a home charger via our sister company, Octopus Energy Services

Is a home charger included in the Octopus EV lease?

A home charger is included with our salary sacrifice, and selected personal leases. A standard installation is included. But if the installation is more complex and Octopus Energy engineers will need to spend more time at your home, it'll cost a bit more.

If a home charger is included with your order

If a home charger is included, here’s how it works:

  1. After you’ve ordered your EV, we’ll send you an online form to apply for your charger. The form asks you for a few details, like where you’d like your charger to be installed (it doesn’t have to be at your home address).

  2. Our sister company, Octopus Energy Services, will check your application and may get in touch for more information to organise the installation.

  3. Once installed, you can switch to an Octopus Energy smart tariff (like Intelligent Octopus Go - EV Saver) to get your exclusive discount as an Octopus driver.

Octopus Energy Services may need to visit where you want the charger installed to check it’s suitable. You might need to provide property details, including photos, to help them understand the work needed.

If you live in Northern Ireland you should fill out the home charger form, and our partner Weev will get in touch to arrange installation. Weev only install the Easee One 7.4Kwh.

We’ll do everything we can to make you get your home charger before we deliver your car,but unfortunately we're not able to guarantee this.

What is meant by standard installation?

We cover the cost of a ‘standard installation’ with your home charger. This should cover most homes in the UK, and almost all new builds. But not every installation is the same because your driveway and the location of your main source of electricity can mean that more work is needed to install your charger.Octopus Energy Services will let you know if this is the case and what any additional costs will be. If you choose a higher-spec charger or require non-standard installation, additional costs may apply.

Can I cancel or move my home charger?

If you cancel your EV order after your charger has been installed you’ll need to cover the cost of the charger. Check out our T&Cs to find out more.

If you want to move or remove your charger at a later date, you’ll need to pay for this. The Octopus Energy Services team may be able to help with this.

What happens if your home charger isn’t included in your agreement?

If you don’t get a home charger included with your lease, you can still order a home charger from Octopus Energy Services.

What if I can't charge from home?

No driveway? No problem. You can get public charging credit from Electroverse as an alternative to home charging. Once you’ve ordered your EV, we’ll send you an email with your options so you can choose a charging offer to suit you.

50% off kerbside charging

If you choose a personal lease, you can get 50% off kerbside charging from selected charge point operators. Or if you plan to use more rapid charging networks, we’ll send you a code for public charging credit from Electroverse. The amount of credit will depend on the offers available when you order.
