When to get in touch with us about insurance

If you have any queries about your insurance cover, need to notify or report any changes, or need to add an additional driver during the term of your agreement (this may incur a cost, as per the terms and conditions of our insurance provider), please get in touch with us.

If your insurance is included in your package

Insurance is often included for customers that are leasing a vehicle through salary sacrifice. If your company doesn’t have insurance included in your scheme, or you’re looking for information on an Intelligent EV contract, please see the section on arranging your own insurance.

When will my insurance be active from?

Your insurance will be active from the delivery date. Our insurance partner will email you your insurance certificate no sooner than five days before delivery.

Please check that all details on your certificate are correct for you and any additional drivers (such as the spelling of; your name, your address, any additional drivers, etc.) If you notice something isn’t right, please let us know and we’ll get it sorted.

How do I know if I'm eligible for insurance?

Not sure if you’re eligible for insurance? Take a look at our insurance eligibility checker.

My car’s being delivered soon, when will the insurance company be in touch?

You can expect your insurance policy, listing you and any additional named drivers, to arrive no sooner than five days before vehicle delivery.

If you don’t receive this within 24 hours of your delivery, please contact us via the Driverline: 020 3322 2601, option 7.

Why is my insurance certificate only for a year, if my lease is longer than this?

It’s standard practice to only insure your car for a year. Your first certificate will run from the vehicle delivery date until midnight 364 days later.

Don’t worry though, we’ll automatically renew your policy. You’ll receive your new certificate for the next year, around a month before your current one expires - ensuring you’ll be covered throughout your lease.

What if my policy document has incorrect information on it?

If your document has incorrect or missing information on it, please let us know as soon as possible at [email protected] and we’ll ensure you get a fresh and correct policy document.

If you’re arranging your own insurance

If insurance isn’t included in your EV package, you’ll need to arrange your own.

When do I need to share my insurance certificate with you?

You’ll need to send us a copy of the insurance certificate at least seven days before your car is delivered. If we don’t receive this, delivery of your EV will be delayed.

You’ll also need to send us your insurance renewal certificates every year.

If you have an Intelligent EV contract with us, we'll send you a form when it's time to share your insurance certificates with us, whether that's pre-delivery or when it's time to renew your policy when you're on the road.

What are the insurance requirements?

We’re not able to advise on insurance providers, but your insurance must:

  • Be comprehensive (for all drivers on the policy)

  • Be issued to the correct registration

  • Be issued to the correct specification of your car

  • Cover both you and any additional drivers on your quotation

    • Any additional and named drivers on your policy must be over 18

  • Be valid for the minimum term

    • 12 months if you’re on our salary sacrifice or personal contract hire agreements

    • 9 months if you’re on our business contract hire agreement

  • Be personal insurance and not business or fleet insurance (if you have a salary sacrifice or personal lease agreement)

  • Cover business use (if you have a Business Contract hire agreement)

I’ve tried to get insurance but my chosen provider didn’t recognise my registration. What should I do?

The registration for your vehicle may not yet be recognised on online insurance sites. This is because there can be a delay between the registration being registered to us and the DVLA portal being updated with it.

To make sure your insurance is set-up on time, you can call your chosen provider to provide your registration and they will be able to process your application manually.
