Credit checks

Understanding how our application process works for Intelligent EV quotes.

Once you’ve received a quote, we’ll ask you to complete a lease application. When you submit your application, we'll carry out a credit search as part of our assessment. If you’re not sure about your quote (or you don’t think it will be affordable for the length of your contract), we encourage you not to complete the application, as it may result in a hard credit search being recorded on your credit file, which could affect your credit score.

What information do we ask for during the lease application?

The details you provide during your application must match the information you submitted with your quote. If these don’t match, you’ll need to place a new order with the right details.

We’ll ask you for:

  • Your address history for the last three years

  • If currently employed, your employment details (like status, employer, title and monthly income)

  • Personal details, like your date of birth, marital status, and dependents

  • Your monthly outgoings, like your monthly expenditure, rent or mortgage

  • The bank details you’d like your payments to come from (but we won’t take any payments yet)

How long do I have to complete the application?

Your quote is valid for 14 days, so you’ll need to complete your full application within that window. If you don’t complete it in time, you can generate a new quote to restart the process but we can’t guarantee the price of your quote will remain the same.

Why do I need to complete this application?

In order to carry out comprehensive checks, we need to complete checks to make sure you meet the requirements for us and our panel of funders (where relevant), like credit history and affordability, so we can make sure monthly payments can be met.

What happens if I fail the lease application?

We’ll let you know if you don’t meet our application requirements via email and we won’t be able to proceed with your application. There are lots of different reasons an application may not be accepted (like payment history, utilisation, credit history, or our specific lender criteria).

Some decisions may use credit reference agency information. We use Experian and TransUnion to inform our credit decisions, who should be your first point of contact for any credit queries:

  • Experian, Landmark House, Experian Way, NG2 Business Park, Nottingham NG80 1ZZ

  • Telephone Number: 0844 4818000

  • TransUnion, TransUnion Consumer Services Team, PO Box 647, Unit 4, Hull, HU9 9QZ

  • Telephone Number: 0330 024 7574

I have more information to share regarding my application. How can I submit this?

If your application wasn't accepted, our team can take a second look at our decision within 30 days. We can generally reconsider applications if there is new or additional context that wasn’t available the first time, for example, savings you couldn't disclose or a one-off life event that temporarily affected your credit file. To request a review, please complete our Lease Application Appeal form.

Can I appeal a decision after 30 days?

We’re unable to review application decisions once the 30-day window has passed. If your situation has changed or you have new details to share, the next step is to submit a new quote and lease application. This ensures we’re looking at your most up-to-date information to inform our decision.

How does the delivery timeline impact credit checks?

We may need to carry out an additional credit check where there is a delay of more than 3 months between your application and the delivery of your car.

Will my credit score be affected by my lease?

Vehicle leasing is a significant commitment and failure to make payments on time during your lease is likely to impact your credit rating and your ability to get credit in the future. Please take your time and carefully consider the current and future affordability of any offer before you accept the terms.
